The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma’s Monday luncheon didn’t exactly feature stacks of hot wax, but it did produce a Top 40 moment.
Unbilled guest Chubby Checker and Gov. Mary Fallin briefly danced the twist on-stage while Checker sang the opening bars of his signature song from 1960, “The Twist.”
Fallin had called Checker to the microphone during her speech at the Feeding Oklahoma banquet, and after talking briefly and singing the opening of “Okie from Muskogee,” Checker took Fallin by the hands and started “The Twist.”
