Bridenstine Video Update On Government Shutdown
Congressman Jim Bridenstine: Video Update on the Shutdown
Washington, DC, October 5, 2013
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Congressman Jim Bridenstine posted a video update for his constituents on what is happening in Washington during the partial government shutdown.
Bridenstine noted that the House is working very hard to fully re-open the government, but the Senate is tabling or refusing to consider the bills sent to them. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), even tabled the House request for a Conference Committee. The Congressman said Reid “Doesn’t even want to talk to us,” and the President told House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) that he will not negotiate.
Explaining the rationale for trying to delay the implementation of ObamaCare for one year or at least delay the individual mandate in the healthcare act, Bridenstine said, “The President had already delayed major provisions of ObamaCare, including the employer mandate, giving multi-billion dollar corporations a break. And in fact, the President unilaterally gave exemptions to Members of Congress.” He said the Republicans in the House decided, “Let’s give the American people the same exemption.”
The video is available on Congressman Jim Bridenstine’s website Bridenstine.House.Gov along with additional information on the partial government shutdown.
