U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe’s 2014 re-election campaign took an unplanned detour to the hospital over the weekend.
“I went in for a routine colonoscopy that everyone gets and was sent to the hospital instead for open-heart surgery,” Inhofe said Monday. “The doctors said, ‘Your colon is perfect, but your heart is what we are worried about.’ ”
Inhofe, who will be 79 in November, underwent quadruple-bypass surgery at St. John Medical Center and will be sidelined for at least a few more days.
“It takes a few days after open-heart surgery to fly on an aircraft,” he said.
