Ceremony To Re-Dedicate OK Capitol Cornerstone

Nov. 16 rededication celebrates centennial event

OKLAHOMA CITY — A program to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Capitol cornerstone laying will be held Nov. 16 at the southwest corner of the Oklahoma Capitol.

On Nov. 16, 1915, about 15,000 people gathered at the Capitol as the Masonic Grand Lodge of Oklahoma presided over ceremonies to lay and dedicate the cornerstone. A hundred years later, we will commemorate those events with a rededication ceremony.

WHO: Speakers will include Oklahoma Historical Society Executive Director Dr. Bob Blackburn, Oklahoma Treasurer Ken Miller and Oklahoma Secretary of Finance, Administration and Information Technology Preston L. Doerflinger. The Masonic Grand Lodge of Oklahoma will rededicate the stone in a manner similar to events from 100 years ago.

WHEN: 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

WHERE: Southwest corner of Oklahoma Capitol.
