Bingman: Conservative Reforms Are Working
Sen. Brian Bingman: Responsible, conservative reforms working
By Sen. Brian Bingman
The 2014 legislative session — my 10th serving the people of Oklahoma and Senate District 12 — has come to an end.
I have had the privilege to serve as the leader of the Senate for four years, and my colleagues have asked me to continue in that capacity for two more. I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish in that time.
We have had some monumental change, including lawsuit reform that eliminated jackpot justice and Workers Compensation reform that placed priority on getting workers healthy and back on the job.
We have worked to reduce the size of government and make the core services available to our citizens more efficient. We have funded the eight-year transportation plan to repair and replace our state’s long-neglected roads and bridges.
We have reformed our education system to empower parents, get more money into the classroom, encourage local control and expand school choice. We stopped the expansion of Medicaid and creation of a state insurance exchange tied to “Obamacare,” all while continuing our successful, locally-created Insure Oklahoma program to help move the uninsured onto the private insurance rolls.
