Senate bill calls for firing of some Oklahoma agency directors
by Rick Green
The heads of 10 state entities would be fired and the governor would nominate their replacements under a bill that passed a Senate committee on Monday.
However, nobody needs to start looking for a new job just yet.
The measure by first-term Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, is more of a conversation starter than a carefully vetted piece of legislation. He said he is open to making major revisions in his proposal and called it a work in progress. He said it won’t advance this legislative session and may be taken up next year.
“There is plenty of room for changes and improvements,” Dahm said.
His main goal is to bring more accountability and oversight to state agencies.
