Councilman Jackson Announces State House Run

Lawton—Today Lawton City Councilman Keith Jackson announced he is running for State House District 64, a seat being vacated by term-limiting Representative Ann Coody.

A Lawton native, Jackson was born, raised and educated in Comanche county. Jackson is a small business owner and has also served on the Lawton City Council for 16 years.

“My Lawton roots run deep,” said Jackson. “From elementary school through my college years at Cameron University, I have called Lawton home. Our district is full of hardworking Oklahomans and I want to be a strong voice for District 64 at the State Capitol.”

The number one issue Jackson plans to tackle if elected is education.

“Investing adequate dollars in Oklahoma education is important, but we also need to ensure we have an adequate amount of Oklahoma teachers,” said Jackson. “Students are the future leaders of our great state, and the current teacher shortage does not provide them the best path forward.”

Jackson also noted that jobs and economic development play a part in Oklahoma’s future growth and prosperity.

“Lawton is a key contributor to Oklahoma’s economy and we have a vital role in policy discussions,” said Jackson. “As a small business owner for nearly 40 years, and serving on Lawton’s City Council for 16 of those years,

I want to bring my civic and small business experience to the legislative process.”

Jackson and his wife Alexandra make their home in Lawton, attend First Baptist Church East, and have three children: daughter Katy Jackson-Seeley is a counselor at MacArthur High School, married to Shawn Seeley, a Lawton firefighter, and they have two children, Lexie (5) and Jax (3); son Andy Jackson works at Advanced Auto Parts; daughter Kelly Jackson-Reavis is an LPN at Fort Sill, married to Craig Reavis who is also an LPN at Fort Sill, and they have two children, Ryan (10) and Reid (6).
