State Rep. Dan Kirby refused Monday to appear before the special House committee investigating sexual harassment accusations against him, saying the process isn’t fair.
Kirby, R-Tulsa, instead gave the House committee a short written statement, as well as evidence.
Two former assistants have accused Kirby of sexual harassment. Kirby has repeatedly denied he harassed them. The committee could recommend the House expel him for misconduct.
“I supported the committee and looked forward to the opportunity to defend myself and restore my reputation. I adamantly deny that I sexually harassed anyone who worked with me at the Capitol,” he said in a news release. “However, I support an open, transparent and fair process like anyone accused of wrongdoing would be allowed.
