I work for the Oklahoma City Public Schools and I make donations each paycheck to United Way. The Boy Scouts is one of the sixty-one agencies supported through my donations each month — organizations like Salvation Army, Positive Tomorrows, YMCA, etc. In addition I make donations to the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools which supports teachers and projects through DonorsChoose. In addition I make contributions to American Fidelity for our cafeteria plan (no other corporation has this privilege for tax-payer money being collected for a corporation). And finally, yes, I yearly choose to join AFT. There is no hard sell at all at my school — the largest high school in OKCPS. I am not ignorant enough to not know how to stop a donation if I wanted. This effort reminds me of the SAE’s at the University of Oklahoma.
