Wayne Greene: Three political lessons from the GOP 5th District primary

It doesn’t really count as a prediction.
I don’t have the gift of prophesy, I don’t pretend to understand greater Oklahoma City all that well, and I really didn’t say definitively who was going to win.
But, it’s still true, that when someone asked me before the June 24 primary, who was going to win the spirited GOP Fifth District primary race to replace James Lankford in the U.S. House of Representatives, I said, “Don’t count out Steve Russell.”
I think the smart money did count out Russell, but they won’t repeat that mistake.
If dollars were votes, Russell came in fourth. He raised $189,026 and spent less than $132,000, according to the latest Federal Election Commission reports.
