When it comes to a “path to citizenship,” Sen. Jim Inhofe’s heart “bleeds” for those immigrants who’ve already been waiting in line, the Oklahoma Republican said on Monday.
“I look at these people who came over the legal way, the hard way, and I can tell you now that my heart bleeds every time I hear people talking about an easier way for illegals to become citizens,” Inhofe said on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”
His comments come as the Senate’s “Gang of Eight” prepares to unveil its proposal for immigration reform, an announcement slated for next week. It’s a plan that looks to include some kind of path to citizenship, a policy that could affect the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently in the country.
