Oklahoma legislation seeks statewide vote on beer and wine sales

A group of Oklahoma lawmakers has unveiled legislation seeking a statewide vote on beer and wine sales.
Senate Joint Resolution 68 would allow for wine and full-strength beer sales in grocery and convenience stores, as well as a number of other changes in state law. SJR68 would also allow for refrigeration of beer and wine at retail stores.
The legislation also would allow retail liquor stores to sell “any item that may be purchased at a grocery or convenience store” as long as non-alcohol sales don’t make up more than 20 percent of a store’s sales.
Legal hours for alcohol sales in the state would be left for the Legislature to work out later.
