The Oklahoma House will vote this week on $40 million in spending cuts after lawmakers rejected on Monday a tax increase.
House Floor Leader Jon Echols said the cuts will be combined with whatever money is available this year to handle the remaining $63 million revenue shortfall.
That’s not all. More than $100 million is needed to fill obligations to public schools and the state’s university medical schools, but those payments will have to wait until the beginning of fiscal year 2019, which starts July 1.
